Please Enjoy the View

Hi Folks. Just wanted to let you know we haven't forgotten you, it's just real busy here right now. At about 10:00 last night when we finally got to sit down for the evening, I told Frank, "We don't have anything for the blog or for your class tomorrow night, and it won't get done tonight." We were pooped. Frank and crew had been working on the greenhouse for six hours in the hot, humid weather, and I had made cheese and worked on mulching the garden. The day flew by and before we knew it, the day was done, and then some. We will be busy all day again today, and Frank's second class is tonight, so please enjoy a few pictures we have accumulated over the past few weeks. I'll even give you a sneak peak at the greenhouse, although it is farther along than my pictures show. By the time everything was done, I didn't get a picture of the final progress from yesterday, but it will give you an idea. Please enjoy the view.

Have a great day!

Until next time - Fern

  1. That greenhouse is going to provide some excellent passive solar heating come winter! LOVE the picture of your kitty!

    1. Yes it is, Librarynut. We really look forward to completing and learning to use it. That kitty is named Pretty, and she is, isn't she? Thank you for sharing.

  2. Everything looks great and very busy. A small suggestion having lots of experience with greenhouses. Greenhouses tend to be very humid as the rule. Heat and moisture equal humidity. Make sure that your siding on the house on the inside of the greenhouse has a really good moisture protection layer (paint). Hugs CQ

    1. Thanks for the advice, C.Q. Our house sheathing is a type of concrete board with exterior paint. We are thinking of spraying on a thin layer of insulating material over the siding in the greenhouse. There is still more research to be done in that area. so we'll see how it goes. It's good to hear from you.

  3. Fern and Frank,

I have to say what a great view! All those gorgeous vegetables harvested, and canned. Living on a homestead, farm, or ranch keeps everyone very busy. Time always flies, and there's just not enough time in the day to get everything accomplished. Before you know it, it's 10 PM, dark outside, and you're just sitting down to get your second wind.
Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures. By the way, your greenhouse is coming along nicely. Kudos to both of you!!!!
    Hugs,
    Sandy

    1. Thanks, Sandy, we now have a kitchen full of food again that needs to be canned. Life's great, even if it is pouring down rain in sheets again outside. It's a good afternoon to catch our breath before we dive back in again tomorrow. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Sometimes pictures make a good filler when life is just too busy, Fiona. I haven't taken any new pictures of the pigs since I did the last post on them, so you're out of luck on that. (-:
