Do You Follow God or the Government?

Hi Everybody, Frank here.

I ran across a real interesting article I would like to share with you. This article has nothing to do with a homestead, what we're feeding our pigs, or what is happening around here today.

It does have something to do with what we have talked about many a time. Here at Thoughts From Frank and Fern, we have talked about the moral decay and collapse of our society many times. We have talked about the educational system lowering it's standards on a regular basis. We've also talked about systematically tearing our military apart. And we've talked about the banking system, the collapse of the world markets, and many other topics, all of them leading to one basic conclusion. Our way of life is under attack from multiple different disciplines. Anybody that takes the time to move out from in front of the television can see it easily.

We are under a full frontal attack upon every established discipline. We are losing the battle, folks. So, where is this going? Here's where it's going. The Southern Baptist Convention had their annual meeting the last couple of days in Columbus, Ohio. The president of the Southern Baptist Convention is Dr. Ronnie Floyd. He had some things to say that are going to, or should, raise peoples' eyebrows. You see, Ronnie Floyd has taken a stand, and so has the Southern Baptist Convention. My hat is off to them for having the courage to stand for what they believe is right. Not legal right, but what is right from God's view. This is not a long article, and it is a news article about his comments. I have not been able to find an unedited version of Ronnie Floyd's speech.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ladies and Gentlemen, please read this article. It is time that we all take a stand. After you read it, discuss it with your loved ones. Because if we don't take a stand, we're are going to go down one by one, and they will have won the ultimate battle. Who is they? They are the vast majority of our politicians. If they don't take a stand, then that means that they support the anti-God, anti-Christian views that are not what our country was founded upon.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we at Thoughts From Frank and Fern wholeheartedly support the views and beliefs Dr. Ronnie Floyd expressed in this article. We believe in freedom, and that every individual has the right to choose what they want to be. But we also believe that marriage is ordained by God between one man and one woman. We will continue to support these views, and defend them until Hell freezes over. Thank you for your time.

  1. I believe we have reached the point in our nation's history where we have two choices . We can keep quiet and go along with whatever we are told, or we can stand up and speak out for what is right. Nobody ever said it would be easy.

    "...but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

    1. Hi, Vicki, thank you for sharing, and it's not going to be easy. I know I have stood by and been quiet for a long time, and I may be quiet again tomorrow, I really just don't know. It's very easy to take the easy road. Thank you for your comment.

    2. sometimes things have gone so far that it is time for 'the wise man to hide himself in times of trouble'.
      how to know the difference?
      got to rely on God to tell us and got to train ourselves to hear 'the still , small voice', which i find very difficult.

  2. A strong stand on a subject that we all need to take a stand. The scary things is there are many issues like this we will be called upon to stand for or against. To be a true Christian will no longer be easy; we will learn what others have know for years.

    1. Thank you, Steve. There are people that are persecuted everyday around this world. We've had an easy ride for a long time now. There are days it scares me, and there are days that I just don't know what to do. But I know what my local preacher has told me what he will not do. I sure hope it doesn't come to rural America, but then I'm sad to see it's come to America period. We have let ourselves become fat and happy, and now we're going to have to pay the piper. Take care, thanks again.

    1. Annabel, thank you for reading. I'm sure you're facing the same issues in your country that we are here. I don't understand how it got this way, well actually I do understand. It's been one bite at a time, and now we have just about been consumed. It would appear that we have lost the battle, and we may have lost the war, too. We'll find out in the very near future. I genuinely thank you for your comment.

  4. It seems by now that people that have been raised with the biblical teachings would understand that Yahweh has given us a good path to follow and shown us, so many times from bible and secular history, what happens when we choose to divert from "His" path.
    He tells us to "choose now". There are blessings and curses clearly stated in the bible for the results of our choices. Our current government and elected officials, our current worldwide terror and wars, our current horrific weather... to mention only a few things.... should be warning us that too many have NOT chosen his path.
    We are not to fear those that can kill the body, but to trust in his redemptive power and justice and stick to "His Path" no matter what others choose to do around us. We don’t know what is in store for us. But for those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose we know that all things work together for our Good. (Romans 8:28). He will keep in perfect peace all who trust in him and whose thoughts are always with him. (Isaiah 26:3)
    God help us, he is our only hope.

    1. Hello, Shannon. Fern and I have not watched TV for 20+ years. We decided years ago not to expose ourselves to the filth and trash that spews out of the tube. I really can't imagine that it has gotten better in the last 20 years. But is TV directing our thoughts, or are they just giving us what we as society demand? Probably both. We are a sick society if this is what we want, and we are a sick society if this is what we allow to be given to us. It would appear that as a society, we have made our choices. Now we're going to reap the benefits.

  5. Although, I am not Baptist I completely agree. I recently had people unfriend me on FB because I listed the business that sponsored the gay pride event in Portland last weekend (I boycott businesses that come out in support of gays). I say good riddens to them and any like them.

    Most know that we are in the last days and those sitting on the fence are almost out of time to choose a side! As for me and my entire family we are on the side of God and not man.

    1. Hi, Mary. I'm glad you and your family have made a choice, and I admire your stand to not support certain businesses. But as you are aware, you are a teeny minority. We are all going to be consumed by the ravenous beast that we have allowed to be created by our complacency. Keep up the good work.

  6. We attend a church that is operating debt free and has for 28 years. I am aware though that this is an unusual state of affairs and I wonder, when it really matters how many churches will stand and how many will cave to keep the tax exempt status. Many churches cannot afford to pay the taxes, what will they do? Daniel has always been the example I look to...there were a lot of things that were legal in the time (but immoral) and Daniel made a point of obeying laws - until a law was made that FORCED him to violate Gods law - and he stood up and put his life on the line. I like to think I can be that strong....

    1. Kathy, it will be interesting to see how churches respond to the same sex marriage issue. I think it's going to surprise a lot of us to see how many churches will take the easy path. The Supreme Court is going to rule soon, and it may not be a states issue any longer. It may be the law of the land. So, is a man going to be able to marry his sister or his mother? Who knows? Boy, we've got ourselves in a mess, don't we? May God be with you.

  7. Ralph and I were just talking about the stand taken by the Southern Baptist's. So few Christians are standing by the beliefs they supposedly following. It is good to see a stand taken that is morally correct and from God's teachings.

    1. Hi, Fiona. What I'm about to say is going to offend some people. But as you well know, most people are cowards and they will not fight for anything. As long as they've got their burritos, sitcom reruns, fake cowboy boots, you know the kind I'm talking about. We've lost this battle, and the losing is going to continue. Have a great day.

    2. there is a proverb which i think was attributed to a frenchman, '5% of people are good, 5% of people are evil, and 90% are neither.'.
      of course, this means that evil will eventually triumph among men, as history shows us. then we start over again, time after time.
      waiting for Jesus to put it all right.

      'behold, I make all things new.'

  8. In the end, we all have to face our maker. What we have done and what we have stood for will be looked at by St. Peter, all we can do in this life that we have is live for The Lord and do our best to abide by Gods laws. Heaven help those that are found lacking, I just hope I am not one of them. Love the blog keep up the good work.........

    1. Thank you for taking the time to share your comment. Some day we will all be judged. We all have pasts, we have all sinned, and we're all going to sin again. I hope when that day comes that God finds favor in my deeds. Thank you again.

    2. It is truly going to be some kind of civil war. The Muslim religion is against the homosexual lifestyle, but they seem to be exempt from the issue. Mosques will always be tax exempt, and Muslim owned bakeries will never be outed for refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding. Added to all the other race wars, divide and conquer. It's as simple as that.

      Delete
    3. I agree with you totally, but these things are not going to change. Some religions will always see favors, and some groups will never be burdened.

      But I believe you hit the nail on the head with divide and conquer. Most don't see it. They're too busy being focused on one or two significant diversions. But as I've stated many a time, all disciplines are under attack. Pick any group you choose, and they are being pitted against another group by some government agency. Everything is under attack. We just can't see it yet, or we choose not to see it. But you are exactly right.

      The near future is probably going to be very interesting. I wish it wasn't this way, but this is where we are and this is what we have to deal with. It's going to get very ugly. Keep your eyes open.

  9. Hi Frank and Fern! I grew up in the Southern Baptist church and I am glad that they are taking this stand. However, they are conflicting with other stands they have taken in recent years. Voddie Baucham said, several years ago, that the SBC should stand up and say that Christian parents should not put their children in the public school system, his plea was shot down at the convention. That would have been the place to start. How can we have a voice about this if we are willing to compromise our children?
    Many people that we know are saying that marriage is the function of the church and not the government and are not getting a marriage license but instead are covenanting before God and His Church. I have to agree. I can't see recognizing marriage as a function of government. I think we have let things go too far and let this beast grow too big into our lives. It will only shrink when we stop looking to it for validation. Perhaps I'm ranting now, but it is, without a doubt, out of control and even the most conservative of us are giving it place that it doesn't deserve, a revered place that only God deserves.
    Thank you so much for what you are doing here. You are in my prayers. Godspeed!

    1. Hello. Thank you for taking the time to express your views. We also believe that our government is seriously out of control. The points you make and the views you share are certainly valid. Our children should always come first.

      I wish that all of our churches would take a stand on many issues, but for the most part, they choose to be silent. From my layman's perspective, our churches and ministers try not to cross or make anyone upset. That just won't work.

      A pet peeve of mine is the way people dress at church. I'm not talking about rich or poor, I'm talking about women that have no shame in the way they dress, and then allow their children, and yes I mean children, 10 years old and up, dress the same way as their mothers. I find it to be a shame that adults will allow themselves, their wives and their children to show parts of their body, and accentuate other parts, when these issues should be private. I guess I wish our churches would do more, instead of just trying to appease the masses.

      Sorry for the rant, but thanks for the comment.

  11. I have to join the discussion and echo The Powers Family comment above. Where in the Constitution is there a discussion about government involvement in marriage? When was the first government imposed marriage license issued?

    And as for where this road ends, I don't know but I am concerned. What I believe is that without following God's Word, anything and any 'relationship' will be sanctioned. Gay 'marrriage' (Typo intended) is just the beginning. If God's standard is not being acknowledged and followed, then anything is possible and nothing is prohibited.

    Keep up the good fight, Frank and Fern. I need to hear from you and know there are other like-mined people out there. SJ in Vancouver BC Canada

    1. SJ, I don't remember reading about marriage in the Constitution either. But then I don't remember any mention of government schools in the Constitution either. These are things that we have allowed to happen and they're going to continue to happen. We as a group are inherently weak, and that's not going to change anytime soon. I'm sorry if this appears negative, but we have been losing our rights and our freedoms since day one when the Constitution was signed. It's nothing new.

      Marriage license, government schools, partial birth abortion. Imagine, it's legal to ram a stainless steel tube into the back of an unborn babie's head. Think about that. Ramming a tube, a stainless steel tube into the back of an unborn babies head, because it has not completely cleared the mother yet. And this is legal!

      We can't recover. This is where we are. And this is what we are. We are the people that allow children, infants to have tubes crammed in the back of their brain. Makes me want to go out and wave a flag. We are a sick, demented society. And we the people allow this to happen while we are drinking beer and watching cheerleaders jump up and down at a football game. Yep. We the people.
