Radio - A Short Video
Hello, Frank here.
I ran across this and thought some of you might find it interesting, hearing it from a different perspective. It's a man talking about how he does radio and solar power. Part of this video is a good review of what we have covered in previous articles. So after you watch it, go back and read or reread some of them. Enjoy.
Enjoyed and learned quite a bit, especially on protection from EMP bursts. As others notated, it would not work on my Ipad. It did work on my laptop.
I've gone thru most of Franks' posting especially on radio excluding the General license. I will do those once I feel comfortable with the tech information. I plan to test for the tech license in December.
I'm 69 years old and started prepping a year ago and just trying to catch up. I've bought a couple of the Baofeng UV-5R and one Baofeng BF-F8HP and assorted goodies to complement those.. I've been able to program the repeaters on the 5R's. But I'm having trouble with the F8HP. I'm using the program from RT Systems with their cable and it doesn't want to take it. I know I need to talk to them about it, just wondering if anybody else was having that trouble.
I've also bought a Yaesu FT2900R/E to use as a base station/portable. Ham Radio Outlet has it on sale for $139.00 post paid. Very fast delivery-2 days time.
Well, I've taken up too much of your time. Just wanted to let you know I am really learning quite a bit from your posts. It is so encouraging to hear someone with a Christian background talk about what is going to happen and how to prepare for it.
Talked to RT Systems today. They were able to access my computer. Updated their program and figured out that my comm port wasn't accepting their cable. Switched to the one I was using for my mouse and it worked great. Good people. I've really had problems with OTHER help desks but RT is really good. Just wanted to let you and others know, if you have a problem with RT programs, let the know and they will be glad to help.
Hi, Alfred. I had a glitch once with an RT program, called RT, took a little time, but the problem was solved. Something to do with version 4.5 and version 5 interacting. But the problem was solved and I am more than happy with the RT system. I agree, I wish other folks customer service was better, some places won't answer phone calls or emails. I currently have 5 RT programs and if I need to, I'll have 6. Their product works and their customer service works. In my world, that is an excellent combination.
I like LDG products also. Can't comment on their customer service, I've never had to call them. CheapHam.com sells LDG refurbished products. Same warranty as a brand new one, a few bucks cheaper.
If you know of the perfect radio, HF, VHF, UHF, full power, easy to open and easy to operate, please let me know.
Hope this finds you and Fern riding out the storm ok.
Thanks for the heads up on CheapHam.com. I have them pulled up as I write. I'm in the market for a power supply for Yaesu 2900, so this site will help.
Video didn't load on page. Android mobile device. OP
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it didn't load for you. It works on my laptop on Firefox. I hope you will be able to view it from a different mode.

Negative on my iPad.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I don't know why you are having difficulty, you are not the first. It works fine on laptops and desktops. Keep trying.
