Unbelievable

Unbelievable. This is a word that is heard around our house frequently now days. Why? There are so many events that happen in our world almost daily that we find unbelievable. Recently? The false representation of a young man's actions that
lead his Catholic school to temporarily shut down. The reactions of the media and some members of congress to the false allegations, without corroborating the information, was unbelievable. Literally. The immediate, strategic, hate filled rants blew up into a national confrontation in a matter of hours. The problem? It wasn't true. It was portrayed as something almost totally opposite from reality, but that doesn't seems to matter much anymore. It doesn't matter if something is true or not, spreading rampant lies doesn't matter any more. What matters is if you can portray information in a manner that will support your viewpoint or purpose, be it good, bad or otherwise.

I ran across this statement recently and it stuck with me. "You do not fear investigation unless you suspect it will give the wrong answer." Remind you of anything happening in our country? Special counsels, collusion, liars, deceit,
undermining the integrity of our government. Why should anyone be afraid of an investigation or questions if they have done nothing wrong? Now days it doesn't seem to matter if you have done anything worth investigating or not, it may happen anyway. For years. And who knows what the end result may be. It may ruin a life, end a career, cause the loss of home, family and friends. All based on lies.

All of these events have existed for many decades in our country. I didn't want to believe it and many days, I still don't want to see the latest layer of unbelievable corruption and decadence that haunts the halls in Washington, D.C., as well as every office of the country that houses any elected official be it national, state, county or local. One gift President Donald Trump has given us is the peeling back of the curtain that helped to maintain the illusion of honesty, integrity and character in our government offices. I once thought of the nation's capital as a place of hallowed halls where the focus was the well being of the nation's citizens. I know, naive, right?

How did it become okay to prevent someone else from voicing an opinion if it differs from your own? When did discourse about differing ideas become hate crimes or reasons to doxx or revile someone on social media to the point of oppression? When did it become almost criminal to be white, Christian, male, veteran, etc.? The list goes on and on. When did it become wrong to be okay with being that pale skin color, that the very appearance of it should bring shame, guilt and a wish to be dead? When did being what we consider to be a regular ole' American become a terrorist, racist, hate monger?

Unbelievable.

Frank has a new saying. "This is where we are." This is the new reality in our country. Like it or not, agree with it or not, wishing it away won't make it so. Tap yourself on the forehead and try to wrap your mind around the new normal, get beyond your normalcy bias like I am trying to do, and wade through the cognitive dissonance that has become the staging area for the changes that have created the new "this is where we are" reality.

I find the reactions of many of our elected officials, from both sides of the aisle, and media personalities to be sickening. Truly sickening. But what I have to come to grips with, is the reality of the condition of our country. There are many people that truly believe what they stand for, just as vehemently as I hold my beliefs. Does that make them wrong? Does that make me wrong? How can it? If I have the right and privilege of choosing what I believe and support, why don't they? Even if I find their choices to be unbelievable in the extreme. Like Frank says, "this is where we are."

In some ways, it seems that this is a good time to hunker down, go totally dark, exist in the world as grey men and avoid all unnecessary contact and attention.
On the other hand, it also seems like a good time to stand up and join with others in stating the obvious attacks, retribution, lies and deception that appear to be growing at a phenomenal rate. Keep your eyes open and your wits about you. Always follow Ol' Remus's advice to avoid crowds. Don't take for granted the truth of what you read or hear without doing what you can to verify. It is getting harder and harder to see the truth anymore. I have become very skeptical about anything I read or hear, choosing to wait a few hours or days to see if the information stays the current narrative or is shown to be another illusion meant to draw the attention and emotions of the audience in a particular direction.

Hang in there. The ride continues to be bumpy and full of unbelievable events. Believe it. This is where we are.

Until next time - Fern

    1. Hi CW & thank you.

Weird is a good choice of words. I'm not sure with the internet if there is just more information out there for all of us to see and consume, or maybe it's just an age thing and being retired, but it sure seems that things are out of control. It sure seems to me somebody, or some entity, is trying to destroy the United States presidency. Weird.

      Take care,

I don't see it getting any better, though there are those that would say socialism is better. Just look at Venezuela. Look at some of the new legislators. It's just unbelievable.

The greenhouse is working well. There are some issues and we will do a post on it real soon. But I eat greens from it every day and have all winter. Thank you for asking.

That's why Fern wrote the title 'Unbelievable'. It's not just a cute phrase, it is truly unbelievable what is happening all around us.

It's not just politics, it's the educational system, overall. Some schools are good. The entertainment industry is borderline filth.

  11. Welcome back! I like Frank's saying because it is so true. It seems to me that the ideological divide in this country is irreparable. "Truth" now has no objective standard. I am sad to say that I agree with you that the "divide in this country is irreparable". And that in itself means something very bad at sometime is going to come upon us. I hate to sound like doom and gloom, but today at our humble little home, the sun is shining, and we take it one day at a time here while we plan for many days ahead.

    1. Lorraine, most of us believe that some day God is going to set things right. We don't know when and we don't know how, and I don't believe we are supposed to know when and how. Between now and then, we need to fight the battles in front of us. There are lots to choose from. They have been put there for a reason or a purpose. That means we need to harden our bodies, sharpen our minds, and be prepared to do what is necessary.

Everyday that the electricity is on is a good day. Everyday that our food comes easy is a good day. These are days that God has given us to prepare. I recommend that we all use them wisely.

Yes, we need to prepare and continue preparing everyday that we have. Not just physical preparation, but mental. Prepare to see things that no one should ever have to see. It doesn't make any difference how many bandaids, beans and bullets you have when you see old Humpty with his yolk running out. 1. Hi, Pat.

The primary reason that Fern and I started blogging again was to be around like minded folks. There are a few in my area, very few actually, and if there are more, then they are very quiet about it, which I guess, is a good way to be. It's kind of like, we all want people to talk to about what we're doing, but at the same time, we don't want people to know what we're doing on a local level. So, I guess there lies the dilemma.

    1. Hi, BJ. Since we last posted an article, we have a new president, most of our outside wars have stayed the same, and I have learned that it was the Russians who pushed Humpty Dumpty off the wall.

We live in sad times. Lies, cheaters, thieves - and these are some of the more admirable qualities some people have. Just imagine if Hillary had won the presidency.

When we last posted, the campaigns were just starting, and I see where they are starting again now too. You see, I haven't watched TV in going on 30 years now. I have never seen one of Donald Trump's TV shows. Never. I know him as a playboy type and real estate developer.

Hopefully in the future we can share some ideas. Just some ideas and feelings about the future because if I'm not mistaken, that is where we're all going to live.

Donald Trump is my commander in chief. I took an oath almost 50 years ago, and I have every intention of keeping it. He is my commander in chief.

      That's all.

  18. Y'know, I don't know how I ended up getting the e-mail about your latest entry today, but I'm glad I got it. What you stated is the unadulterated truth. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; the view folks like us have of this country is that of a passenger with a window seat on a crashing plane! All we can do is to prepare ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually for what's to come. Things have gone too far. There won't be any change until enough of those who drank the Kool-Aid wake up and see the truth for what it is. At that point though, it'll be an uphill battle to get back what we've lost; a modern day ancient Israel, to be sure.

Stand by for heavy rolls as the ship comes about...

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi, Pete. Thank you for your comment.

The Kool-Aid drinkers like the Kool-Aid. Why would they wake up? I don't see that dream happening. And I don't see an uphill battle. The reason being, you fight an uphill battle to save or recover what you had before. What we had before and have now, is what has gotten us where we are today. We can't fix the mistakes of the past and we can't repair them.

There will be a change, and there will be some kind of battle, and I'm not sure it's going to be a change for the better. It saddens me to have this type of belief, but the car we're riding in now is not going to function in the future.

Today I read about Abraham taking Isaac to be a sacrifice or burnt offering. The angel saved Isaac, but a couple of chapters back there was no saving during Lot's experience.

I wish I had a better grasp of the future. I don't think there is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is going to solve our problem. That is why opiate use is up, suicides are up, and I think it explains some of the excessive use of exhibited perverse behaviors. But then in many circles perverse is the norm, and the norm is considered the perverse.

We'll see what happens, because this ship is not going to come about. The converging rollers will take it down. Pete, you need to have your life jacket on, and make sure all your family has their life jackets on too.

      Frank

      Delete
    2. Indeed Frank, should this ship founder, my vest is on, My eyes are on the lifeboat, and the coordinates of the nearest dry land are written on the back of my hand.

I see no path to victory here either, but received in prayer back in September of '08:

"There is coming a time when the world will be brought to its knees. All things now deemed valuable will become worthless, and things once thought worthless will become the most valued.

Your survival will rely on how you stand with God. Your value will be based not on material wealth, but on what God-given talents you can bring to the table in your community. Your money will be worthless. Your integrity will be priceless.

All people will need to work together. Ethnicity and race will divide some people, but will mean nothing to those of faith. This will ultimately be the strength that overcomes all.

All churches will have to work with each other; what “faith” you follow will not be as important as faith itself.

The country will survive, emerging from this trial stronger and more unified than ever before."

Therefore I hope for the best, but prepare for the worst...

      Delete
    3. Pete, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I hope a day will come when we can look past ethnicity, race, and color, and that may happen, that we all have to work together. By the term 'we', whatever groups of people are left after the trauma coming to our world, my concern is the path we are going to need to travel to get to a place where people can work together.

There are very dark days coming, and there is the old saying about the light at the end of the tunnel. It's that tunnel that I am concerned with, or the path, or however we get there. Pete, I'm not sure that our country as a nation is going to survive. I'm sure the physical land will. Right now I live in the country, and people live in the country in other countries. Dark times are coming and they have been for a long, long time.

With the expansion of the internet, and yes I'm aware that many people repeat what others say and just add a slightly different flare to it, but a lot of original thinkers think that mankind is due for a shift. You reference God. If we have a strong belief in our Creator, then death is something we should not fear. Actually, many believe it should be welcomed. For those that survive, there may be a long, dark period ahead, and in that nature, the country will survive.

    1. Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

One of the biggest questions of all times is when the Lord is coming back. That is a little out of my area of expertise. When we're going to see a fall or collapse in our society? I don't know that either, and I can't guarantee which one will come first, the Lord or the collapse. I think I can prepare for the Lord coming, and I'm trying to prepare for a general purpose type collapse of society.

We see collapse on a local basis regularly - fires, hurricanes - or what most would call local disasters or collapses. But some day we're going to see a nationwide or possibly worldwide shutdown. There are things you need - water, food, protection, and the mental preparation for whatever comes.

Do the best you can. But I would seriously give thought to not believing what the government says. And I hate saying that.

      Take care,

I call it different disciplines - they are all under attack. Just pick one - masculinity, Christianity, whiteness, heterosexuality, and it goes on and on and on. It's not one group that is attacking, it's multiple groups, multiple fronts, but it's a coordinated effort.

I will say we, or my side, is unquestionably under attack and there is no way to respond. They are winning, they have won and I do not know how to recover. Maybe we can all figure it out together, because it is not going to stop.

    1. Hi Fiona. Our best to you and yours.

Yes, people are speaking up about Gillette, and Trump has peeled back numerous layers of corruption making it visible to all. But my question is, what can be done about it? It's not going to stop, it's going to escalate. Then what? When are we going to respond appropriately? We talk while the other side advances. Then we talk more and the other side advances more. They are doing it everywhere. All institutions, all disciplines. And we talk.

I wish I had a firm solution, but I don't. So I talk, while the other side continues to advance. It's been going on for a long, long time. It's just becoming more in our face. I do believe that violence is near, and as they are violent, we will talk. They are organized from the international level down.

I don't have an answer, but it is good to hear from you. You guys take care.

    1. Hello. Interesting question. A few years back there appeared to be scientific data that would suggest that living under a power line could cause damage to a human. Now take into consideration that there is scientific data that global warming is going to do whatever it does.

Now, you use the word property instead of lot. It certainly depends on how far away the power lines are away from your house or any place that you spend a lot of time. It depends on how tall, or how far above the ground the power lines are. Are they the type going across country, or are they of a more local type design?

Power lines do emit energy. That's how a basic transformer works. A coil of wires inside of another coil of wires, and energy is transmitted from one coil to the other without the metallic part of the wire actually touching. In other words, the coil of wires are insulated.

Would I buy a piece of property with a power line running across it? Sure. It would depend on the factors mentioned earlier. Remember to take into consideration the power company has legal access to their lines. Some are checked from the air, others are monitored from the ground. Some trim the trees on a regular basis, trees and other forms of brush.

In most areas there are codes about what type of structures you can put under, or how far away they need to be from the power lines. In other words, you may own the property, but you can't build a structure directly under a power line. You may be able to plant a garden there. My experience with most utilities has been for the most part, they are very easy to work with.

In a get-out-of-Dodge situation, some folks will be following power lines. Something to consider.

I have close relatives right now that just built a beautiful home very close to a power line. Not the huge cross country type, but one that does transport electricity a long distance. Remember, generally speaking, the taller the tower, the higher the voltage it carries, and the stronger the emission from the power line.

At one time in my life, I would have said no way would I live near a high voltage power line. Now, I would still have some reservations, I would just be smart about it.

My house has a power line running from a transformer to my house. All through my house there are power lines running all through it. Anybody that has electricity in their house has power lines all around them. This is the world we live in. I don't think there are any definitive studies that would indicate that electricity causes long-term damage. Look at all the radio signals going through the air, and when I say radio signals I mean cell phones, TV signals, commercial radio, private telemetry, not to mention what the sun puts out every day.

Hope I've given you some food for thought.

But if you still fear, you can always wear a tin hat. A little humor there.

      Take care. Best of luck.

  27. Yahoo! A new post from Frank and Fern! I am looking forward to hearing from you again. My husband and I say "you can only do what you can do" because you can't do any thing about what is happening in Washington DC. The news from New York is breaking my heart, people were cheering about very late term abortions being leagle. I used to wonder how the people of Germany could ignore Jews being put into ovens, but here we are ignoring this. On the other hand what can we do about it????

    1. Spinnersaw, interesting observation. What can we do about it? I don't know, I don't have an answer of what we can do about it. But if enough of us get real tired of all the 'stuff' happening around us, then there will be a natural movement.

The thing in New York is a shame. It's just a shame. Not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings, it is just legalized murder. Most people won't know anything about it. Most people are watching some filth, sleaze show on television, eating Cheetos and waiting for their next free meal from the government. Which isn't really free because I paid for it.

When enough people talk about it and enough people are really, really sick and tired of it, there will be a spontaneous movement. I thought that partial birth abortion was an unbelievable atrocity. I won't go into details here, but how can any civilized society ram a metal tube into the back of a babies skull? This is where we are.

I wish I had a definitive answer. So let's talk more about these things and maybe someday, we can participate in a larger movement. Maybe.

      Thank you for the comment.

  29. Welcome back! I used to enjoy reading your blog, and I'm glad to see that you've returned. Sometimes we sit here just shaking our heads at what's been going on out in the world; it is frightening and it helps to know there are others who share our concerns. Bless you all!

    1. Sbrgirl, we also shake our heads everyday, that's why the title Unbelievable. I shake my head watching my animals do destructive things, but there comes a point when I have to do something about it. This is my primary concern. When do I quit shaking and start doing? Thank you for your comment.
