New York Times Editorial & the SurvivalBlog Response

Hello Everybody, Frank here.

As you are all aware, a tragedy occurred in San Bernardino, California a couple of days back. Our prayers go out to all.

The New York Times has responded to this tragic event with an editorial comment of their own. This editorial is included in the following link in it's entirety. Please read it, it's a short read.

James Wesley, Rawles the publisher of SurvivalBlog, and author of several good, quality books, has tendered his response to the New York Times editorial. Here is the direct link to Mr. Rawles response. Please take the time to read it, it is also a short read.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are facing perilous times. We are under attack from outside sources and inside sources, from enemies both foreign and domestic. Those of you that have taken the oath understand the importance of these words. Things are progressing at a rapid pace. Now is not the time for slumber. Stay vigilant. We are under attack. Please read the two articles above, The New York Times and Mr. Rawles, then read them a second time and try to grasp what each one is saying. You need to prepare now. Stay close to home, gather your loved ones near and prepare to defend yourself.

God bless.

We'll talk more later, Frank

  1. I first read the NY Times editorial. And I have to admit that the treasonous argument for gun control and confiscation scared the bloody hell out of me. That editorial brought home to me that these people in power will stop at nothing ...absolutely nothing... to see to it that we are completely defenseless, for that is the only way they can be sure of staying in power.

And then I read Mr. Rawles answer to the Times editorial. He is spot on. If the threats by the powers that be are carried out, there will indeed be a Civil War. There is no other way possible for this to end. There are too many of us who will not comply. There are too many of us who still believe that our rights can not and should not be compromised. And there are too many of us who are willing to defend ourselves and our families from our tyrannical government.

I don't know about anyone else, but for me, the time is now to make sure I have done everything possible to prepare. I do not believe I have the luxury of time on my side. Putting things off until tomorrow no longer works, for tomorrow could be too late.

  2. The thing few mention is that California has some of the toughest gun regulation in this country...yet.....

Guns are what they are, I know it is a worn phrase but Guns are only tools. Do airplanes get grounded because they crash and Kill hundreds at a time? Guns have to have a hand attached to an arm attached to a man to do anything.

The editorial and response are must reads!

    1. Fear is a powerful means of control, Fiona, and TPTB will exploit any and all situations to their advantage. The means justifies the end when they can get one step closer to total domination and control.

  3. The author of the NY Times editorial ends with the question "What better time than during a presidential election to show, at long last, that our nation has retained its sense of decency?" I agree. If this question had been asked before the last two presidential elections, we most likely wouldn't have been anywhere near as vulnerable as we are today. My observations tell me things have gone too far, and that nothing short of armed conflict within our borders lies in our future. As Americans though, we MUST continue to exercise our right to vote, and do so with the intent of pushing back against the current regime. We must also prepare, as both my gut and what comes to me while in prayer tell me this isn't going to end well...

    1. The right to vote....27% voter turn out in our county this past election day! Terrifying!

      Delete
    2. Indeed. That number is partly to blame for the way things are today. Many have given up, feeling their votes count for nothing; a byproduct of the "electoral college." The people of America have the duty, as well as the right to vote. This thing won't run itself, and has pretty much had no one at the helm for seven years!

    3. I realized during the last election, Pete, when 120% of the people in a precinct voted for our current president, and no one contested it, that there is no such thing as an election anymore. It's all a staged farce. I have heard people say for years that they don't vote because it doesn't make any difference. Unfortunately, today I think they're right. TPTB will install the person of their choosing a little over a year from now and we can't change that.

I agree, this isn't going to end well. Prepare the best you can.

  4. Hello Frank, this is how Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg explains the LAW....I so agree....because those civilians at the beginning of this great nation had MUSKETS and no STANDING ARMY...No one want to take away recreational guns for hunting or target shooting... but the bad people in San Bernardino had boatloads of artillery . intent on destroying whatever come across their way...And what we don't need in this country is fearmongering (including those well-intended preacher bible thumpers)which I believe is exactly what the intent is by those that seek to do us harm...I wish you peace, mercy and brotherhood...the values of this great country.

"Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg on the Second Amendment
"The Second Amendment has a preamble about the need for a militia...Historically, the new government had no money to pay for an army, so they relied on the state militias. And the states required men to have certain weapons and they specified in the law what weapons these people had to keep in their home so that when they were called to do service as militiamen, they would have them. That was the entire purpose of the Second Amendment."
But, Justice Ginsburg explains, "When we no longer need people to keep muskets in their home, then the Second Amendment has no function, its function is to enable the young nation to have people who will fight for it to have weapons that those soldiers will own. So I view the Second Amendment as rooted in the time totally allied to the need to support a militia. So...the Second Amendment is outdated in the sense that its function has become obsolete."
As for the Heller case, decided by the Court in 2008, Justice Ginsburg says, "If the Court had properly interpreted the Second Amendment, the Court would have said that amendment was very important when the nation was new; it gave a qualified right to keep and bear arms, but it was for one purpose only—and that was the purpose of having militiamen who were able to fight to preserve the nation." "

    1. Hello Willemina. Thank you for taking the time to share Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg's opinions. The other Justices do not share her view and/or legal opinion, and frankly, neither do I. Judge Ginsburg, under the 1st Amendment has the right to be wrong about the 2nd Amendment. Thank you for sharing, and I am one of those Bible thumping, gun toting Christians. May Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, bless us all.

    3. Willemina,

Although I will defend your right to have an opinion, as I did for 20+ years of my life in the Air Force, I will also disagree with you and Justice Ginsburg. The 2nd Amendment was put in place so we could defend ourselves from a tyrannical government, which is what we have now. This is not just the Democrats, but also the Republicans who have also abandoned this great nation for their own gain.

    4. If you watch the old "Frankenstein" movies, you'll notice that the monster is always pursued by villagers wielding nothing but farming tools. They had nothing else to go against the monster with, as they had no right to bear arms, and has thus been disarmed. Think of how short that movie would have been if the villagers had been properly equipped! Times change. Monsters change. Three things won't change though; people will be people, monsters will be monsters, and people defending themselves against monsters will require adequate firepower...

  5. I have too much time to analyze things, but here goes. I am willing to bet there is a huge spike in small concealed carry weapons and Permits since the San B events. I will also bet that a good portion will be by Democrats who have big mouths yelling for abrogation of the Second Amendment. They will make sure they can protect themselves and demand the rest of us cannot.

    1. It's interesting to read how many sheriffs are calling on law abiding citizens to obtain a concealed carry license (if required by the state), learn how to safely carry and use the weapon of their choice, and carry them. They are calling on the citizens to be armed and ready to defend themselves. What does that tell us, Carl? One step closer to the SHTF.

  6. The saddest part is this, The people who actually believe that taking firearms away from people is answer, are in for a rude awakening.. When trouble comes, and it will come, they believe that because they don't believe in violence or that they went along with the party line that they will some how be exempt from what happens next, sad. What's worse is that these people will be the first ones to shout for "Protection" when the trouble comes. When it comes down to it, these people will want something that they are not willing to fight for, but expect someone else to do their fighting, Some will toughen up, most won't. Sadly, those of us who saw this coming will have neither the time or the resources to help. Not because we don't care but because when we can help it will be all we can do to help those folks who are like minded with the willingness to survive and prosper, such as it will be, without wasting time arguing about the moral and legal implications of using those nasty old "Guns". Absolute power is the most addictive drug on the planet. Once an immoral person obtains it they often refuse to give it up unless forced to relinquish it. I believe this to be a true statement, If you want to find out how moral a parson is, give them power. If this could be considered a "Bright" side, If you give up your guns, you probably won't live long enough to regret it.

    1. Hi, Pam. Thank you for your comment. Interesting and accurate perspective in many ways. I was also taught about Thomas Jefferson's comments concerning an occasional change in government is a good thing. Maybe this is what is happening, just a few generations later.

I believe you're also correct about historical scholars' interpretation of the good guys and the bad guys. I am relatively sure that the father of our country is not portrayed quite the same in British historical volumes. Presumably they have a slightly different perspective about George Washington.

I have on more than one occasion disagreed with James Wesley, Rawles views, interpretations, or perspectives, whichever you choose. He is an author. The roles of his characters are defined and he does project a strong male presence. But in fairness, he also projects a capable, supportive female role. Remember he is a writer.

On a personal note, in my household we follow Biblical traditions of the man being the leader of the house. This could appear to be an authoritative, dominant rule, but we believe that men, women and children have their respective and perspective roles. Do they overlap at times? Certainly. Are they cast in concrete? No. If a final decision ever has to be made, it is made by the male. This is the role that I have been assigned, it is my responsibility, and I will not delegate my God given authority to anyone else. Simply put, it's my job and I will do it with honor. If this makes me a chauvinist or misogynist, so be it. This is the nature of the beast.

I respect your opinion and earnestly welcome your future comments.

      Regards,

      Frank

    2. Hi Frank, Remember that the Bible talks of the "virtuous woman" in Proverbs She's strong and capable. Where a man is the leader in the household, a woman isn't idle. Shes no doormat & contributes a lot to her family, also. Linda

    4. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Fern Feral,

If you will permit, I’d like to respond to Mrs. Pam Baker.

      Mrs. Baker,

My husband, James, is not a power hungry misogynous. If he were, he would’ve sought for public office long ago. We dislike politicians and most that become one, usually become corrupt. We love our very quiet, private life on our ranch in the wilderness, and we wouldn’t trade it for ANYTHING. My question to you is: How can one who is trying to maintain a very private life and OPSEC go and become a public leader? Wouldn’t that be entirely ironic? Again, Jim has no political ambitions whatsoever. (Besides, I wouldn’t allow it!! ☺)

I am not a second-class citizen in our marriage. I am a full-on equal partner with equal say in all that we do, but I have a different role. Jim loves strong, intelligent and capable women and is very pleased that I am his wife. He praises me daily. We are a biblical household where Jim, being the husband is the dominant head of our household. He is one who makes the final decisions in all matters. However he loves me, and our children so much, and is such a gentleman, that he highly values my opinions and abides by my wishes. His utmost desire is that I am happy and does his best to accommodate me. He truly loves me. He is always kind, generous and full of love towards me, is and very funny. We are always laughing and enjoying each others company. He is my love and my friend! I love Jim deeply and delight in my roles as his wife, the mother of our children, Editor in Chieftess, ranch hand: cow milker, horse trainer, goat herder, Apiary and chicken and turkey overseer, gardener, food preserver, cook, housecleaner, and homeschool mom. I do my best at all times and he greatly appreciates my efforts. He is a really wonderful man. Jim is the executive director of our home but I am the director of carrying out the day to-day workings of our home and ranch. Thus when he feels strongly about something, I love and trust him and go with his final decisions.

On another note I wish to re-emphasize that Jim is an incredibly intelligent writer! He is allowed the writer’s license to write a good story. What is written in the books is NOT NECCESARILY what goes on in our home or ranch!! Why can’t people understand this??? We’re regular people doing the best we can with what God has given us. Remember, Jim was in the intelligence community he has an excellent memory, nearly photographic, is a Christian Libertarian, Constitutionalist and has many, many interests. He is an extremely moral man and loves our Lord Jesus. He is very, very concerned with the direction our country is going and wishes to alert our fellow readers to pay attention and to be ready/Prepared for what may be coming in our future! It is time to pay attention, pray and take our stands for righteousness and freedom where we live.
Pam, I hope you will now have a more favorable view toward my husband and you will understand that just because someone writes a book, it isn’t all that his life entails.

Mr. and Mrs. Feral, thank you for allowing me a platform on your blog to express my opinion. I really appreciate your Blog, too, and all that you are doing to educate and warn folks of the evil days that are coming. Keep up the good work! May our Lord Jesus Bless You and Keep you safe in the days that are coming.

      Very sincerely,

      Avalanche Lily

    5. I don't know Mr. Rawles personally; only through his books. I usually don't attempt to defend people I don't know, but I've read most of Rawles' works, and have never read even a hint of misogyny in them. He paints pictures of traditional Christian households, with the husband as the head. In no way though, do hate, dislike, disrespect, or belittling of women enter into his works, either outright or between the lines, other than in the antagonistic characters, who "get theirs" in the end. I see nothing wrong here...

Keep waving that red lantern, Mr. Rawles. The world needs to know what's coming!

Mrs. Baker, I forgive you in all sincerity. May our Lord Jesus Bless you and Keep you! May you know His Great Salvation! May He bless, guide, protect and provide for you in all that you will need to continue developing your homestead in the beautiful state of Vermont.

  8. Greetings Frank,
Our Constitution has slowly been shredded and diluted over the years and unfortunately most Americans are totally unaware of its condition . I view the 2nd amendment as a linchpin, when it goes ALL the rest of our freedoms will soon disappear into history .I suggest that folks do a little research on the "Patriot Act " and the "NDAA" act and see for themselves the destructive legislation our elected pinheads have put upon us .
The battle for the 2nd amendment is clearly out in the open for all to see, with the NYT editorial , if they choose to see it . With the " trojan horse " of muslim immigration I feel it is imperative to be armed and aware when out in public . According to the FBI there are at least 22 muslim training camps on our soil at this time . The largest being a 70 acre compound in New York state , but not to worry the FBI is tracking their behavior patterns . The TSA has admitted to having at least 70 of their employees on the terror "suspect list". If a person would only turn off their smart phone or television and look at the chaotic conditions in Europe right now they may get a glimpse of what is heading our way in this country .
Things look awful gloomy with 27 countries in recession worldwide , a gaggle of thieves and liars guiding this country to destruction and most people completely in the dark about things .
If you don't have a relationship with Jesus Christ , I would put that issue on my to do list immediately , He will provide you comfort and guidance that you cannot imagine . Blessings to all.

  9. I'd like to add a supportive but different perspective to the Rawles issue.

Having been involved in a prior marriage where I was constantly challenged by my ex wife the last period of that marriage, I can only attest the ideals put for by Mrs. Rawles.

After 9 long years of waiting and searching for another wife. The good Lord saw fit to pair me with a woman very much like Mrs. Rawles. I have been blessed by her arrival in my life.

While I see that the issue with Mrs. Baker has been resolved, I'd like to state that while I also have some minor differences with Mr. Rawles's books, one of them irritating to be honest, he hasn't forced me to purchase any of them. I have gladly and willingly bought the ones I have and will continue to do so.
