What's On Your Refrigerator?

Besides dust, that is, because if you're like me you don't dust the top of your refrigerator very often. This question doesn't really involve the top of your refrigerator, though. It is focused on the front and sides, if they are visible. Are you one of those people that keeps your refrigerator just as it is, all nice and shiny? Or, are you one of those people that 'decorates' your refrigerator with 'stuff'? Most parents have all kinds of neat kid created decorations all over their refrigerators. Some folks keep chore lists or calendars on their refrigerators. Us? We keep a variety of magnets, pictures, quotes and 'stuff' that we have accumulated over many, many years. About 20 years ago we were using a small, plain refrigerator that Frank started decorating with stickers, magnets, bumper stickers and what not from a variety of places and organizations. It's too bad I don't have a picture of that one to show you. As it is, I will share our current refrigerator decorations with you, just for fun.

We obviously don't have much going on right now. I've started rolling up paper pots for garden seedlings, we're waiting on baby goats, we haven't started making the soap yet, and it's still winter. The solar panel project will have to be worked on around all of the other early spring projects that all seem to happen at the same time every year. So, the question remains. Just for fun. What's on your refrigerator?

Until next time - Fern

  1. On my fridge is a local calendar of homes built by the original 8 settlers of my community and their children & grandchildren, many of whom still live in the area. The home I bought & remodeled was built by one of the grandsons (his sister, at 95 is doing well & has been a wonderful neighbor, as has her son). When he passed away, his wife sold it to a couple who simply coudn't afford to keep it up and so it came to some disrepair. I kept the house as much as originally done as was possible & every week some family member would stop by to say hello, welcome me and let me know how happy they were that Bud's place was being cared for. I was so honored last March (a year after I purchased it) when the families asked if I would like to be in the 2015 calendar - the property had not been in it since before 2000. I am Miss September & proud of it! Holding the calendar up are 2 magnets knitted up into small baskets by a friend with my NASCAR drivers on it: #88 & #99! A lightbulb magnet from my electrician holds up the hunting season schedule & my huge Georgia Carry magnet holds up my gardening plan - still in progress for this year. What a great post to share!

  4. hey Fern - our refrigerator doesn't have much on it but that's probably because it is a "barbie"-sized regrigerator as that is what the original owner of this cottage made room for. our cottage was originally built as a summer cottage - a great place to come for a weekend or a 2-week vacation but very difficult to live here full time, which we have been doing for 4 years!!! we have somehow managed and made do but plan to add an addition on to our kitchen this spring - i won't even know what to do with a full-sized fridge and stove!!! but my jam always keeps our shopping list and our jobs list on the fridge - that's about all it can hold! oh the joys of bugging out and living in your BOL eh? bhahahahah!

much love to you and Frank! your friend,
    kymber

  5. Pictures of our children, sponsored children, adopted children and pictures drawn by children. It's really a mess of stuff everywhere.

How about what's IN your refrigerator? I was thinking of blogging on this as my high school senior son comes home and complains there's nothing to eat. Most foods in my fridge are homemade or home canned. Not to his liking.

    1. I bet your 'mess of stuff everywhere' is full of meaning, though, Odiie.

What's IN the refrigerator would be a very telling thing, wouldn't it? We had some friends over a while back for the first time. When I opened the refrigerator the wife made the comment that our contents looked funny because we didn't have a bunch of 'normal' store bought stuff in it. I took that as a great compliment. I think if most people looked in our frig, they would think there was nothing to eat either. A very interesting thought. Thank you for sharing it.

  6. Absolutely nothing. Why? Because our house is for sale and the real estate agent said the less seen, the better. It looks too sterile for me, but I saved all our magnets for the refrigerator in our next house!

    1. Good luck on your sale! I hope you have a wonderful place picked out for your next home. Home not house. There is a big difference. Thank you for sharing.

  7. Magnets and our current favorite 'Pickles' cartoon. My favorite magnet says "Lord please keep your arm around my shoulders and your hand over my mouth!"
