That is good to know. Thanks again. I love to learn new things.

FernFrank and Fernhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15570058990887565563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7003348645601520194.post-81372052193317050772013-09-23T19:38:00.502-05:002013-09-23T19:38:00.502-05:00They grow up fast and they are so fun to watch. While waiting for this I cover the head with cheesecloth securing in the back with a tie wrap to prevent birds and squirrels from eating the seeds. When the seed head is ready for harvest the seeds will actually fall out of the head when brushed with my thumb.

To separate the chaff from the seed - put all in a bowl, cover with water, the chaff will float and will be easy to remove. Dump the water, spread the seeds out on newspaper and let dry, out of the sun. Be sure they are completely dry before storing in a glass or plastic jar.

Besides growing more sunflowers the seeds can be planted in a flat and harvested as microgreens/sprouts when 2 or 3 sets of leaves appear. A great way to add fresh greens to your winter diet.Bellenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17249001827113998376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7003348645601520194.post-82521542983900022072013-09-23T17:56:56.196-05:002013-09-23T17:56:56.196-05:00 Your kittens are getting so big !
