It was basically a boxed dinner. It was disgusting!!!!! It was literally a large can of soup and some instant biscuit dough. He thought it looked like it'd be really good. Luckily, we have moved on to more homemade food. Hopefully later in life we will also have our own chickens and other livestock, along with some space to actually grow our own food as well. Hmmm....now you have given me another idea to work into my canning and gardening scheme, and I really appreciate that.

Blessings,

Fern
Frank and Fernhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15570058990887565563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7003348645601520194.post-38233110999610727272014-01-28T14:04:37.591-06:002014-01-28T14:04:37.591-06:00Before cooking, it looked kinda yucky. It is so simple you can easily adjust it to your preferences.

Happy cooking, Fiona.

Fern
Frank and Fernhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15570058990887565563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7003348645601520194.post-45583047340086701392014-01-28T13:01:28.556-06:002014-01-28T13:01:28.556-06:00I make a dish that is similar. A couple of years ago I layered cubed potatoes, sliced carrots and peas in quart jars, covered them with hot water and canned them according to the time for the vegetable that takes the longest (peas & potatoes = 40 minutes at 10 lbs. pressure). So now all I need do is dump a jar of meat, usually chicken or turkey, into a casserole dish, top with the quart of vegetables and add the gravy. Top with biscuits and bake. It is a quick, easy and delicious meal. Yours looks so good that I may have to make it for my supper tonight!Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7003348645601520194.post-27765085257648135872014-01-28T12:43:29.541-06:002014-01-28T12:43:29.541-06:00I have to admit it did look a bit anemic! Would the gravy have added more color if you had made a darker roux? I have been planning my new experiment in gardening for 2014, more home grown herbs and more peas and carrots which I hope to dehydrate. Thank you for the photo recipe, seeing is so helpful!Fionahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05348495575211204989noreply@blogger.com
